Sam, Andy and the family would like to welcome you to our glorious get away site set in the heart of Rural North Devon. Set in the quiet of the countryside it’s the ideal spot to get away with friends and family and enjoy some of the Devon countryside.

The farm is set in 17 acres of beautiful farmland, woods & rivers which you are free to explore at your leisure. With wonderful walks, stunning sunsets and endless views. We have an abundance of natural wildlife to observe. We are set in a beautiful rural location where you are ideally placed to enjoy the natural delights of Exmoor & Dartmoor and the rugged North Devon coastline.


A place to get back to nature with the family and your dogs. We feel so lucky to live in such a beautiful area of England with much of North Devon being a Biosphere Reserve, including a designated coastal area of “Outstanding Natural Beauty”.

Lower Whitsleigh Farm Cottage offers awards award winning, quality accommodation for up to 5 guests with all modern amenities. The cottage is dog and child-friendly and we can supply a high chair, travel cot and baby gates for your little ones.

Bring the dog, Paddle in the rivers, go for long walks, meet the animals, play hide and seek, build a den, walk on the beach or learn to surf. Explore new places. Toast marshmallows over the fire. Gaze at star filled skies. Snuggle into a warm bed. Listen to the owls and the bleating of sheep. Unplug. Reconnect. Revive.

We have many friendly farm animals that are happy to be made a fuss of – Daphne & Delilah (our 2 rescue donkeys) Tamworth Piglets & ex-Battery Hens. We also encourage our guests to interact with our resident animals, all of whom love attention – let us know if you or little ones would like to help with feeding or grooming.

The Location

Roborough is a historic village situated just over 5 miles from the market town of Great Torrington, the estate of Owlacombe which is mentioned in the Doomsday Book still exists today in the south-west of the village. Roborough offers lots of walks and has a great village pub only 1.5 mile walk away. The farm is set in 17 acres of beautiful countryside which you are welcome to explore.

Dogs

We love dogs at Lower Whitsleigh Farm and we invite you to bring yours with you. North Devon is a fabulous place for dogs and they are welcomed in most places. ​We are equal distance between the moors and the north coast – all offer a huge variety of stunning walks for you and your dog to enjoy on your days out. We know where most of the dog-friendly beaches are so ask us when you get here and we’ll point you in the right direction. One of our favourites is Saunton Sands which is a haven for dogs and where you’re sure to meet a lot of four legged friends!

The Countryside

The farm has 17 acres of land that you are free to explore but if you want to go further afield there are plenty of places to enjoy. We are set in one of North Devon’s finest rural areas surrounded by open fields, woodland and panoramic views of rolling North Devon countryside with views of both Dartmoor & Exmoor. We have an abundance of natural wildlife to observe and is a haven for bird watchers, photographers & artists. We are surrounded by acres of woodland and pasture which are home to sheep, cows, lambing in spring, chickens, guinea fowl and much more wildlife including rabbits, pheasants, buzzards, kestrels, badgers and even deer.

The Beaches

The farm is only a short drive away from north Devon’s beautiful beaches. Woolacombe Beach, Saunton Sands, Westward Ho! and Instow Beach. All these beaches are great fun for all the family and all have their own merits. Woolacombe beach was recently voted best beach in Britain, this three mile stretch of golden sand backed by sand dunes and with views across the ocean to Lundy Island. Stunning Saunton Sands is a long straight sandy beach stretching over three and a half miles of golden sand backed by the impressive Braunton Burrows a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Popular beach with surfers & families perfect for swimmers & surfers. Instow beach is a pleasant sandy beach making it a great choice for families due to it’s calm waters.

Fun For The Kids

For the younger guests there is The Big Sheep petting farm, The Milky Way Adventure Park and for the more adventurous there is the North Devon Wake and Aqua Park and the Ultimate Adventure Centre. More information and links about these attractions can be found on our Local Guide page.

Apart from our lovely village pub the surrounding towns also offer great food and drink venues with choices for everyones tastes for lunchtime and evenings. We are spoilt for independent tea rooms and café should be cafes that all offer the best in local ingredients and are set in idyllic locations.
